Description Habitat: Limestone soils on hillsides and mesas, brushlands and grasslands; 1500 to 3000 ft.
Plant: (Almost always) trunkless yucca with erect floral stems up 10 feet tall.
Leaves: Basal rosettes of green, spreading, leaves that are linear or somewhat wider near middle; blades mostly straight, flat or somewhat convex, 10 to 25 inches long and 1/4 to 5/8 inches wide; margins are white or green and with straight or curly filaments.
Inflorescence: Open, flowering panicle 1-1/2 to 4+ ft. long, starting on the flowering stalk 8 to 18 inches above the leaf blades; white, hemispheric, pendant (hanging down) flowers on 8 to 15 branchlets; tepals are pale greenish-white, 1 to 1-7/8 inches long with pointed tips; stamens 2/3 to 7/8-inch long, pistil 1 to 1-1/2 inches long with lobed stigmas.
Bloom Period: April to June.
Fruit: Capsules are oblong-cylindrical, deeply constricted near middle, 1-3/4 to 2-1/2 inches long and 1 to 1-2/3 inches wide.
