A trip to Alpine and Fort Davis in late September yielded a surprising number of plants, including a lot of new ones, because the area had been blessed with unusual amounts of monsoonal moisture the previous couple of months. Photos were taken at The Nature Conservancy ranch north of Marathon (courtesy of TNC and the field trip arrange by the Native Plant Society of Texas). We also found places north of Alpine, along FM 166 west/northwest of Ft. Davis (a beautiful drive!) and inside the Davis Mountains State Park.
