Lake Brownwood State Park, about 3 hours northwest of Austin, was a place that I thought could be promising for fall wildflowers. My reasoning was that the drought map of Texas indicated that the region was drought-free. As I got closer to Brownwood I became optimisitic---the conditions were not as sere as the area around Austin, and I was not disappointed. The area was dry but they had quite a lot of rain within the last month or so. And Lake Brownwood was completely full of water.
There were not a lot of wildflowers in bloom, but there were a few, and three were new species for this website.
