The Native Plant Society of Texas held their 2023 Fall Symposium in Nacogdoches, in the Piney Woods region of the state. We took the opportunity to scout the area for wildflowers and were able to find a lot of species in bloom, the summer’s drought notwithstanding. Photos were taken at Scrappin’ Valley, southeast of Nacogdoches in Newton County, within Nacogdoches itself and down the road in Lufkin. We also spent some time in Lake Livingston State Park southwest of Lufkin. Altogether, we found 16 new species to add to our collection.
