Palo Duro and Caprock Canyons

Our trip to Caprock Canyons State Park and Palo Duro Canyon State Park was in the midst of the drought in mid-May. Caprock is located close to Quitaque (northeast of Lubbock) and Palo Duro is southeast of Amarillo. There were a few plants blooming in Caprock Canyons but almost nothing except prickly pear in Palo Duro. That said, we found a few new species at Caprock Canyons and “re-identified” the Tulip Prickly Pear previously shot at Palo Duro Canyon.
