My fall trip to Big Bend was during the week before Thanksgiving. From our trip to Alpine in late September, I had thought that the Big Bend area would have some better-than-usual wildflower opportunities, at least for the fall. My suspicions were well-founded…the area around Terlingua had received about 8 inches of rain in August, and while things had dried out, there were more wildflowers and a greener countryside than last spring. And I found 11 new species for the site, always a plus!
