Description Habitat: Various soils in fields, streamsides, open woodlands, waste areas, disturbed areas and roadsides.
Plant: Climbing annual, slender stems 8 to 30 inches long.
Leaves: Alternate compound leaves 3/4 to 3-1/8 inches long with simple or branching tendrils at leaf ends; pinnately-divided with 8 to 16 narrowly oblong-elliptic to linear, alternate leaflets less than 1/4 to almost 1-inch long and up to 1/4-inch wide; tips are blunt (trun­cate to emarginate) and the surfaces are smooth.
Inflorescence: Racemes 3/8 to 2 inches long of 2 to 7 small pea-like flowers 2–4 mm long with a whitish corolla; 5 hairy calyx lobes, unequal lengths.
Bloom Period: April to June.
