Description Habitat: Found in deciduous and mixed forests, on oak and ashe juniper trees especially in areas with moderate to high humidity and partial shade.
Body (thallus): Hanging, wispy tufts 4 to 12 inches long; unevenly, profusely and dichotomously (splitting in two) branched, the largest with swollen cracks in rings around branches; side branches at obtuse angles at intervals; surfaces smooth, greenish-white or yellow-green (reddish to brown?).
