| Description | Habitat: Sunny, dry desert environment, especially in gypseous soils. Plant: Low-growing/prostrate, woody, perennial, much-branched, 1 to 2 inches tall; forming mats 8 to 16 inches across; hairy stems. Leaves: Clusters of green, narrow, oblong to oblancelate leaves, less than 1/3 inch long and 1/16-inch wide; edges rolled under; moderately hairy surfaces with long, bristly hairs. Inflorescence: Clusters at stem tips of small pink to purplish funnel-shaped flowers, each with 5 petals and less than 1/4-inch across with yellow anthers in center; hairy calyx.
