| Description | Habitat: Dry, calcareous (limey), usually rocky or gravelly soils in fields, meadows, open brushlands and disturbed areas. Plant: Erect, stout annual, 8 to 32 inches tall; stem and leaves densely covered with appressed pubescent hairs; upper portion branched. Leaves: Midstem leaf blades are linear-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, 1.2 to 3.2 inches long and 0.2 to 0.8-inch wide, alternate. Inflorescence: Loose terminal corymbs of flower heads about 1/2-inch across; no ray florets; 10 to 25 white to pink disk florets each with 4 or 5 spreading corolla lobes; involucre with hairy phyllaries 0.2 to 0.3 inches long. Blooming Period: Spring to fall.
