Description Habitat: Most soils and habitats, including lawns, gardens, pastures and prairies; widespread; often becoming noxious.
Plant: Delicate perennial with creeping stems less than 12 inches long that root at nodes, more or less hairy.
Leaves: Alternate, clover-like trifoliate leaves on petioles less than 2-3/4 inches long; each heart-shaped leaflet less than 3/4-inch long, folded towards each other; surfaces are smooth with no oxalate crystals, green but often maroon; margins are often ciliate with villous hairs.
Inflorescence: Cyme with 2 to 5 small yellow flowers, 1/4 to 1/2-inch across, each on short (< 3/8-inch) pedicels; 10 stamens a column surrounding pistil; 5 sepals less than 0.2-inch long.
Bloom Period: March to October, sporadically year-round.
