Description Habitat: Freshwater and brackish marshes.
Plant: Stout, bushy perennial 6 to 9 feet tall.
Leaves: Large grayish-green palmately-cleft into three lobes, up to 10 inches across; toothed edges.
Inflorescence: Multiple large flowers with 5 pale-pink petals, 3 to 6 inches long with crimson bases; straight stamen column, pink to white; blossoms open late afternoon and last until the following noon.
Bloom Period: June to August.
