Description Habitat: Dead or dying hardwoods, parasitic on living trees; in small groups or overlapping tiers.
Cap: Shelf-like, fan-shaped caps, 2 to 6 inches wide and 5/8 to 1-1/8 inches thick; velvety, rusty-brown to dark-brown with distinctive yellowish margins when young; lower surface with rusty-brown pores.
Tubes and Pores: 5 to 7 pores per mm with rusty brown mouths.
Stem: None.
Fruiting Period: Year-round.
