Description Habitat: Sandy or limestone gravel soils in desert scrub.
Plant: Erect perennial up to 6 ft. tall, ofyen less, with numerous slender, erect branches; hairy younger stems.
Leaves: Opposite, ovate, 0.25 to 1.2 inches long and 0.15 to 0.8-inch wide; crenate and ciliate margins with rounded teeth; upper surfaces with prominent impressed veins; lower surfaces are densely hairy.
Inflorescence: Densely glandular-hairy terminal spikes 2 to 4-3/4 inches long rising well above the leaves with several to many small pink to lavender flowers, about 0.25-inch across; each flower with tubular corolla 0.2-inch long with 5 flared lobes and hairy throat; very hairy calyx with 5 pointed lobes.
Bloom Period: January to October.
