Description Habitat: Moist to wet areas in clearings, forests, marshy meadows, ditches.
Plant: Upright, slender, smooth annual, 12 to 28 inches tall, with a few branches.
Leaves: Compound leaves 3 to 4 inches long overall, multiply-pinnately-divided or dissected; ultimate leaflets flat and narrowly linear.
Inflorescence: Clusters of very small white flowers in compound umbels in leaf axils and at stem tips, each umbel bearing 2 to 4 ultimate umbels, each with 2 to 8 flowers atop long floral tubes subtended by bracts; each blossom about 1/16 to 1/8-inch across with 5 white petals and filaments, yellowish anthers.
Bloom Period: April to June.
Fruit: Strongly-ribbed, smooth, slightly flattened across, about 3/8-inch long.
