Description Habitat: Often in alkaline soils in floodplains, stream and ditch banks, and disturbed areas.
Plant: Annual or perennial 8 to 24 inches tall; stems erect or decumbent, main stem branching in lower half; scattered, appressed hairs on stem.
Leaves: Pointed ovate to lanceolate blades, 3/4 to 2-3/8 inches long, on short petioles; margins dentate to serrate; surfaces sparsely hairy.
Inflorescence: Mostly solitary pale yellow to orange-ish flowers in leaf axils, each about 1/2 inch across with 5 blades.
Bloom Period: Nearly year-around.
