Description Habitat: Calcareous soils along roadsides, trail edges.
Plant: Erect annual, with mutiple stems from base, 6 to 18 inches tall, branched above.
Leaves: Opposite, 3/4 to 1-1/2 inches long with toothed edges above the middle of the blade; lower stem leaves spatulate and clasping, becoming oblong to oblong-lanceolate and sessile above.
Inflorescence: Several to many small pink flowers on spikes up to 6-inches long; each 3/8 to 5/8-inch long with upper and lower lips; lower lip divided into three lobes, center lobe white with pink streaks; purplish anthers.
Bloom Period: April to June.
