Description Habitat: Rocky soils on slopes and grasslands; limestone plateaus.
Plant: Perennial growing in dense clumps, with the appearance of a large coarse grass.
Leaves: Evergreen blades 2 to 4 feet long by 3/16-inch wide, smooth to somewhat rough, few teeth on edges, curled at tips.
Inflorescence: Compound panicles up to 10 inches long and 2 inches wide at the tops of rather short stems with many very small flowers; blossoms with white-to-cream tepals with a purplish tinge; stamens with white filaments and yellowish anthers.
Bloom Period: March to July.
