Description Habitat: Open areas, woodland edges, hillsides.
Plant: Much-branched, sprawling, somewhat woody perennial 1 to 2 feet tall with hairy stems.
Leaves: Alternate, oblanceolate or ovate leaves 1/2 to 2 inches long, sessile or short-petiolate, with toothed or wavy edges.
Inflorescence: Yellow-orange flowers about 3/4-inch across opening early morning and late afternoon, 5 pointed petals and many protruding stamens.
Bloom Period: April to October.
