Description Habitat: Dry sandy or stoney soils usually in disturbed areas; 2,500 to 6,000 ft.
Plant: Prostrate, mat-forming perennial; much-branched stems 1 to 12 inches long with dense dense cottony hairs.
Leaves: lanceolate to spatulate, 0.8 to 1-inch long, usually gone by fruiting; stem leaves up to 1.2 inches long and 0.5-inch wide, ovate grouped closely together, smooth upper surface and woolly below.
Inflorescence: Very small white to cream flowers, in dense, compact clusters (glomerules) in the leaf axils; flowers are less than 0.1-inch long; tepals are united in a 5-lobed, densely cottony-hairy perianth, 5 yellow anthers in greenish-yellow centers.
Bloom Period: May to October.
