Description Habitat: Sandy soils, including beaches and dunes; sea level to 700 ft.
Plant: Annual with several slender, erect, spreading stems, 8 to 20 (or more) inches tall.
Leaves: Odd-pinnately-compound leaves 3/4 to 2 inches long with 13 to 17 small leaflets, each 1/8 to 1/4-inch long, somewhat wedge-shaped.
Inflorescence: Stout, dense spikes 3/8 to 1-1/4 inches long with tiny rose-purple pea-like flowers mostly around the tips, 5 yellow stamens; hairy, green, becoming brownish, bracts about 1/8-inch long with long pointed tips.
Blooming period: March to December.
