Description Habitat: Sandy or gravelly soils in grasslands and open areas in woods, scrubland and thickets.
Plant: Decumbent, sprawling perennial 6 to 12 inches tall; trailing stems to 18 inches long.
Leaves: Alternate, stalked, somewhat round in outline with 5 to 7 very deep, palmate, oblanceolate lobes which are further lobed or deeply toothed.
Inflorescence: Cup-shaped flowers with 5 white or pinkish overlapping petals, 1 inch long; 5 bracts underneath and an involucel of 3 bractlets below.
Bloom Period: February to June.
