Description | Habitat: Open grassy areas. Plant: Low-growing perennial 8 to 24 inches tall; may recline on the ground. Leaves: Narrow lanceolate to linear-lanceolate leaves 2-1/2 to 6 inches long, often folded. Inflorescence: Numerous flowers crowded in terminal spherical clusters; each about 1/2-inch across with five upward-curving, pale yellow-greenish corolla lobes (petals); dark purple hoods attached to anther head (gynostegium); horns included in hoods.
