Description Habitat: Dry, sandy open areas.
Plant: Erect, leafy annual, 12 to 24 inches tall, single stems branched only above the middle.
Leaves: Crowded with deep green upper surfaces, pointed tips, and edges that are smooth or with small teeth; basal leaves oblanceolate, 2 to 4 inches long and up to an inch wide; stem leaves elliptical, smaller, 3/8 to 3/4 inch long.
Inflorescence: Showy composite flowers on peduncles 1 to 2-3/4 inches long, each blossom 1 to 1-1/2 inch across with 16 +/- yellow rays, 25 to 60 yellow disk florets.
Bloom Period: Late spring to fall.
