Description Shrub or small tree up to 12 feet tall; shady areas, understory; trifolate leaves on long petioles each leaflet lanceolate to ovate, 1 to 2-1/2 inches long, lemon scent when crushed; many small white to yellow-greenish flowers in terminal clusters, 4 or 5 pointed petals and 4 or 5 stamens.
