Description Habitat: Streambanks, bottomlands, areas that are moist sometime during the year.
Plant: Large shrub or small tree up to 15 feet tall.
Leaves: Opposite, deciduous leaves with petioles (short stems) about 1/2-inch long; leaves are ovate to elliptic-lanceolate 1 to 4 inches long; upper leaf surface rough.
Inflorescence: Small white 4-petal flowers about 1/4-inch across in a rounded cluster 2 to 4 inches across.
