Description Habitat: Meadows, disturbed and open areas.
Plant: Upright slender weak annual 6 to 12 inches tall, usually unbranched.
Leaves: Stem leaves are small, 1/4 to 3/4-inch long, and clasping; ovate to lanceolate shape.
Inflorescence: Flowers arising from leaf nodes, each with 5 blue petals, up to 3/4-inch across with very prominent stigma surrounded by shorter stamens; early blossoms below dropping off.
